Xterra Lock 4 2016

After a fun race last year at this event I was excited to be back near Nashville again.  The morning of the race, the director made a small change which meant that bike course would be 3 laps of about 4.5 miles each rather than two longer laps.  No big deal…

Xterra Lock 4 2016The swim was tough again this year – I just wasn’t moving closer to the buoys, ha!  Ended up finishing the swim fine, jumped on the bike and was cranking away departing T1 headed up to the first singletrack.  Once on the trail, I shifted down and pedaled hard.  Then.. bang, snap, spin!  My derailleur hanger had broken which sent the derailleur almost into the rear wheel twisting the chain in the process.  Doh!  I didn’t have a spare hanger (note to self).  So..  I used the tools I had to remove the chain and derailleur so I could at least roll the bike back for a solid DNF (did not finish).  Ouch.

0.5 mile swim, 12-14 mile bike (?), 4.2 mile run
